Radical Rest: What Does it Look Like

When your soul feels tired, it’s often a sign that you need deep, radical rest that goes beyond sleep. Resting radically means addressing the exhaustion of your mind, body, and spirit in a way that renews your inner energy. Here are some ideas:

1. Listen to Your Inner Voice

  • Spend time in silence or with calming music to tune in to what your soul is asking for. Journaling or meditating can help uncover what’s weighing you down.

2. Prioritize Deep Rest

  • Sleep deeply: Create a cozy bedtime routine with soft lighting, calming tea, and soothing scents.
  • Rest your senses: Reduce screen time, noise, and overstimulation.
  • Pause productivity: Give yourself permission to rest without guilt.

3. Connect with Nature

  • Walk in a forest, sit by water, or even tend to your garden. Nature has a way of grounding and recharging us.
  • If it’s winter, consider bringing the outdoors inside with plants, natural light, or even a simulated sunlight lamp.

4. Simplify and Release

  • Let go of unnecessary obligations. Say no to things that drain you.
