Interbeing
“Interbeing” is a term popularized by the Vietnamese Zen Buddhist monk, Thich Nhat Hanh. It reflects the interconnectedness and interdependence of all things. The concept emphasizes that nothing exists in isolation; everything is interconnected and every individual thing contains elements of all other things.
For example, when considering a simple sheet of paper, one can see the tree it came from, the rain that nourished the tree, the logger who cut it down, the sunlight, and so on.
Everything coexists and is interwoven into the fabric of existence.
“Interbeing” challenges the conventional Western perspective of individualism and the idea of separate entities by emphasizing the holistic nature of existence and the interconnectedness of all beings and phenomena.
